Next year I undertake a community art project that explores individuality, identity, and housing from a futurist perspective. This experiment evolved from my photographing my art beads and imaging them as sheltering spaces and animate objects. The idea of solitude, meditation, reflection, and revitalization, and self-invention creates very resonant intention and meaning.
I’m exploring ways to create Temporary Restorative Urban Environments, and I’m underpinning my research by reading a variety of books (I have a feeling this research will resurface as a journal article or in a syllabus). Right now I’m reading an essay by Elizabeth Grosz, called Bodies-Cities. It’s delightfully challenging, and it’s one of many essays in the book Sexuality and Space.
